A keyword taglist is a filtered approach to Twitter lists
To be a little more specific, a "keyword taglist" allows you to filter out just the Tweets containing the keywords or phrases you're actually interested in seeing from a given Twitter list.
Then, once a day, we'll send you an email with all the tweets containing the keywords or phrases you are interested in which passed through your list.
How do I make a keyword taglist?Start by clicking here to let taglist access your Twitter account. Once you click "approve" on the Twitter.com page that you see next, you'll be brought back here to finish setting up your first taglist.
Why make a keyword taglist?Twitter lists are a great way to group people who share some common theme, but the stream of tweets that pass through a list are not limited to just those that are related to the 'topic' of the list. Taglist fixes this problem by letting you say just what keywords and phrases you want to monitor a given list for.
A good example is Scobleezer's programmers list (which had 323 members when we wrote this). If you're a Perl programmer, this is potentially a very interesting list to you, but in reality the noise-to-quaility ratio on Perl is just too high for this list to be useful to you.
By setting up a taglist with Perl specific filters (like 'Perl', 'Catalyst', 'Moose', and 'scripting language') you'll have a nice simple way to see just the tweets passing through this list that are most likely to be of interest to you (ie. any tweets that mention 'Perl', 'Catalyst', 'Moose', or 'scripting language').
